MICARDIS PLUS 80MG TAB

  • Manufacturer: Micardis Comp
  • Product form: Tablets
  • Ingredients: Telmisartan - Hydrochlorothiazide
SKU: 2140016-01

Product Description:

  • Micardis plus is a combination of two active substances, telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide, in one tablet. Both active substances are used to control high blood pressure .
  • Telmisartan belongs to a group of blood pressure medicines called angiotensin II inhibitors.
  • Angiotensin II is a substance produced in the body that causes blood vessels to constrict and thus blood pressure to rise.
  • Telmisartan works by inhibiting the effect of angiotensin II so that blood vessels dilate and blood pressure drops.
  • Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to a group of medicines called thiazide diuretics, which increase the excretion of urine and cause blood pressure to decrease.
  • If high blood pressure is not treated, it can damage the blood vessels in several organs, which can sometimes lead to a heart attack , heart or kidney failure, stroke or blindness.
  • High blood pressure usually causes no symptoms until the damage occurs.
  • It is therefore important to measure your blood pressure regularly to check that it is within the normal range.
  • Micardis plus is used to treat high blood pressure ( hypertension ) in adults who do not achieve adequate blood pressure control with telmisartan alone.

How To Use:

  • Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.
  • Contact a doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
  • The recommended dose is 1 tablet daily.
  • Try to take the tablet at the same time each day.
  • You can take Micardis plus with or without food.
  • The tablets are swallowed with water or another non-alcoholic drink.
  • It is important that you take Micardis plus every day, until the doctor decides otherwise.
  • If you have liver function problems, the dose should not normally exceed 40 mg/12.5 mg once a day.

Warnings And Precautions:

Consult a doctor before using Micardis plus:

Inform the doctor if you have or have had any of the following conditions or illnesses:

  • Low blood pressure ( hypotension ), which can occur if you are dehydrated (large fluid loss from the body) or have a salt deficiency due to treatment with diuretics (diuretic tablets), low-salt diet, diarrhoea , vomiting or treated with dialysis
  • Kidney disease or have undergone a kidney transplant
  • Renal artery stenosis (narrowing of the blood vessels to one or both kidneys)
  • Liver disease
  • Heart problems
  • Diabetes
  • Gout
  • Elevated aldosterone values (accumulation of water and salt in the body at the same time as an imbalance in various minerals in the blood)
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus (also called " lupus " or "SLE"), a disease in which the body's immune system attacks the body
  • The active substance hydrochlorothiazide can cause an unusual reaction that causes reduced vision and eye pain. These symptoms, which may mean fluid accumulation in the choroid ( choroidal effusion) or that the pressure in your eye is too high, may occur within hours or weeks of taking Micardis plus. Untreated, this can lead to permanent reduced vision
  • If you have had skin cancer or if you develop unexpected skin changes during treatment.
  • Treatment with hydrochlorothiazide, especially at high doses over a longer period, may increase the risk of certain types of skin and lip cancer (non-melanoma skin cancer).
  • Protect your skin from sunlight and ultraviolet (UV) radiation while taking Micardis plus.
