Product Description:
- Micardis plus is a combination of two active substances, telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide, in one tablet. Both active substances are used to control high blood pressure .
- Telmisartan belongs to a group of blood pressure medicines called angiotensin II inhibitors.
- Angiotensin II is a substance produced in the body that causes blood vessels to constrict and thus blood pressure to rise.
- Telmisartan works by inhibiting the effect of angiotensin II so that blood vessels dilate and blood pressure drops.
- Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to a group of medicines called thiazide diuretics, which increase the excretion of urine and cause blood pressure to decrease.
- If high blood pressure is not treated, it can damage the blood vessels in several organs, which can sometimes lead to a heart attack , heart or kidney failure, stroke or blindness.
- High blood pressure usually causes no symptoms until the damage occurs.
- It is therefore important to measure your blood pressure regularly to check that it is within the normal range.
- Micardis plus is used to treat high blood pressure ( hypertension ) in adults who do not achieve adequate blood pressure control with telmisartan alone.
