Mechanism Of Action Of Azithromycin
- Azithromycin belongs to the class of drugs known as macrolide antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth.
- Azithromycin prevents bacteria from growing by interfering with their protein synthesis.
Therapeutic Indications Of Azomycin Suspension
- It is used to treat infections caused by certain bacteria and other microorganisms, which include:
- Chest, throat, or nasal infections (such as bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, sore throat (pharyngitis), and sinusitis)
- Ear infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections (such as an abscess or boil)
- Sexually transmitted diseases are caused by organisms called Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhea
Method Of Administration Of Azomycin Suspension
- Always take or give this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- The pharmacist should have advised you whether to measure the medicine using the multi-dosing spoon or the oral dosing syringe
- Azithromycin suspension is generally used for children under 7 years (45 kg). It may also be used in adults and older children who have difficulty swallowing capsules.
- Azithromycin suspension is not affected by food or drink.
- Children under 45 kg: The recommended dose in children is 10 mg for each kg of body weight, given as a single daily dose for 3 days
- Adults and children over 45 kg: The recommended dose in adults and children over 7 years (45 kg) is 500 mg taken as a single dose, for 3 days
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

- Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:
- Sudden wheezing, difficulty in breathing, swelling of eyelids, face or lips, rash or itching
- Severe or prolonged diarrhea
