Mechanism Of Action Of Betamethasone

  • Betamethasone is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation and itching by suppressing the immune system and inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators. It is used to treat a variety of inflammatory and allergic conditions, including asthma, eczema, and rheumatoid arthritis.

 

Therapeutic Indications Of  Betasone Betamethasone Ointment

  • Used in case of: 
  1. Relief of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.
  2. Treatment of psoriasis.
  3. Treatment of eczema.

 

Method Of Administration Of Betasone Betamethasone Ointment

  • The recommended dose is to apply a thin layer of the ointment to the affected area once or twice daily and rub it in gently
  • The ointment should not be applied to the face or to areas where the skin is broken or infected.
  • Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
  • If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
  • Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

 

Undesirable Side Effects Of Betasone Betamethasone Ointment

  • Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them, but you may suffer from:
  1. Burning sensation 
  2. Itching 
  3. Irritation
