Ketoprofen 2.5% gel What Ketoprofen is used for:
  • Ketoprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug.
  • They are limited, in adults and children from 15 years, to:
  • In long-term treatment of:
  • Some chronic inflammatory rheumatism
  • Some severe arthrosis.
  • In short-term treatment of:
  • Some inflammation around the joints (tendinitis, bursitis, acute painful shoulder)
  • Some inflammation of the joints with crystal deposition, such as gout
  • Acute arthritic pain
  • Acute lower backache
  • Acute pain related to nerve irritation
Do not take Ketoprofen if:
  • Beyond 24 weeks of amenorrhea (5 months of age pregnancy)
  • Hypersensitivity to ketoprofen
  • History of asthma triggered by the use of ketoprofen or substances of similar activity such as other NSAIDs, aspirin
  • Gastrointestinal haemorrhage, cerebrovascular haemorrhage or another evolving haemorrhage
  • An evolving gastric ulcer or intestinal
  • Severe hepatic impairment
  • Severe renal impairment
  • Severe uncontrolled heart failure.
  • Do not take ketoprofen if any of the above applies to you.
Warnings & Precautions:
  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist
  • If you have asthma associated with chronic rhinitis or sinusitis when taking aspirin or another NSAID
  • If you have history of liver, heart or kidney problems
  • If you have high blood pressure
Possible Side Effects:
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Skin reactions (rash, pruritis)
Other medicines and Ketoprofen:
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and herbal supplements.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
  • Certain medicines like ACEI (perindopril, lisinopril), other NSAIDs (ibuprofen, diclofenac),
  • heparin, ciclosporin, Tacrolimus, trimethoprim because it may cause an increase in potassium levels in the blood.
  • Several substances are involved in interactions, due to their antiplatelet medicinal products properties: aspirin and NSAIDs, ticlopidine and clopidogrel, tiro¬ban, epti¬batide and abciximab, iloprost.
  • The use of several antiplatelet agents increases the risk of bleeding.
  • Lithium: increased toxicity when taken together
  • Methotrexate: increased toxicity when taken together
How to take Ketoprofen:
  • Adults and children above 15 years of age:
  • The recommended initial dose is usually one or two times per day
  • Ketoprofen should be taken during a meal with a cup of water
  • Do not break the tablet in half
How to store Ketoprofen:
  • Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and on the blister after EXP.
  • The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
  • Do not store above 30 degrees in a dry place
  • Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.

* Dosage form and route of administration Ketoprofen suppository, Ketoprofen 200 mg tablet and Ketoprofen 100 mg tablet should be prescribed according to therapeutic indication and disease severity of each individual patient.
