Mechanism Of Action Of Prednisolone 1% Eye Drops

• Prednisolone is a corticosteroid used for the relief of inflammation located in both the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, the cornea, and the anterior segment of the globe of the eye.

Therapeutic Indications Of Pred Forte Eye Drops

• It reduces the irritation, burning, redness, and swelling of eye inflammation caused by chemicals, heat, radiation, allergy, or foreign objects in the eye.

Method Of Administration Of Pred Forte Eye Drops

• Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
• Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• The recommended dose is 1 or 2 drops into the affected eye(s) 2 to 4 times a day
• Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
• If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
• If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
• Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

Undesirable Side Effects Of Pred Forte Eye Drops

• Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:

1. Headache
2. Mild stinging and/or burning
3. Elevation of the pressure in the eye (intraocular pressure)
4. Mild irritation
5. Redness
6. With increased pressure within the eye, a center of the eye becomes cloudy (cataracts)

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Precautions While Taking Pred Forte Eye Drops

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
• Your doctor will discuss the possible risks and benefits of using this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Warnings & Special Precautions while Taking Pred Forte Eye Drops

• Talk to your doctor before using Prednisolone Eye Drops if you suffer from, or have in the past suffered from:

1. Eye ulcers or have had a disease or treatment to the eye that caused the tissue to become thin
2. You have glaucoma or are being treated for raised pressure within the eye
3. You have had surgery for cataracts
4. Bacterial, viral, or fungal eye infections

Storage Conditions Of Pred Forte Eye Drops

• Store below 25°c
• Don’t refrigerate
• After opening the drops are safe for the eye for a period of 28 days. After this, using the drops can cause serious damage to the eye as bacteria may have been introduced.
• Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
• Store in the original package to protect from moisture.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
