- Itraconazole works by altering the fungal cell membrane
- It exerts its fungistatic effect by selectively inhibiting 14-alpha demethylase. This is a cytochrome P-450 enzyme that is necessary for synthesizing ergosterol, which is an important component of the fungal cell membrane.
Therapeutic Indications Of Sporanox 100 Mg Capsules
- It is an azole antifungal, indicated for the treatment of onychomycosis of the toenail mainly.
- Vulvovaginal candidiasis (infection of the vagina)
- Oral candidiasis (infection of the mouth)
Method Of Administration Of Sporanox 100 Mg Capsules
- Itraconazole capsules should be taken after a full meal
- Separate from taking it with antacids or gastric secretion suppressors.
- It can be taken any time of the day
- Do not break the capsule in half
- Take this medicine as indicated by your doctor
- The dosing may depend on the site and severity of your infection.
