Mechanism Of Action Of Ciprofloxacin
- Ciprofloxacin is a bactericidal antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone drug class.
- It inhibits DNA replication by inhibiting bacterial DNA topoisomerase and DNA-gyrase which are necessary to separate bacterial DNA, thereby inhibiting cell division.

- Bone and joint infections
- Gastrointestinal infections

- Urinary infections
- Respiratory tract infections

- Typhoid fever
- Inhalation anthrax exposure
Method Of Administration Of Sarf 500 Mg Tablets
- Take exactly as indicated by your doctor.
- Take this drug at the same time of day.
- Take with or without food.
- Take with a full glass of water.
- Swallow the tablet whole. Do not split, crush or chew.
- Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine.
- Do not take this medicine with dairy products, like milk or yogurt, or calcium-rich juices
- The dosing may differ depending on the site and severity of your infection.
- For adults, the usual dosing range is 250 – 750 mg every 12 hours.
- For children, the dosing is usually done according to the child’s body weight in mg/kg/dose. It is usually between 10-20 mg/kg/dose every 12 hours.
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

- This medicine may severely affect your tendons, joints, and nervous system.
- The risk of getting tendon problems is higher if you are over 60 years of age, are taking corticosteroids, or have had a kidney, heart, or lung transplant.
- The risk of having joint problems is higher in children under the age of 18 years.
