Mometasone Furoate 0.1% cream

What Mometasone Furoate is used for

  • Mometasone Furoate is used to reduce redness and itchiness caused by certain skin problems called psoriasis or dermatitis.

Do not use Mometasone Furoate

  • If you’re allergic to the active substance or any other component of this medicine.
  • If you have any other skin problems including rosacea, acne, skin atrophy, and dermatitis around the mouth.
  • On open wounds or skin ulcers.
  • If you have a skin infection such as cold sores, chickenpox, warts, or shingles.

Warnings and precautions

  • Talk to your doctor about all your medical conditions before taking this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you condition gets worse.
  • Tell your doctor if you develop bumps filled with puss on your skin.
  • This medicine may cause delayed growth in children.
  • If you have eye problems such as cataracts or glaucoma.

Possible side effects

  • Stop using this product and seek immediate medical help if you develop a rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Stop taking this medicine and call your doctor if you experience:

  • Cushing’s syndrome: symptoms include a rapid weight gain, especially of the trunk and face (round face), and general weakness, particularly in children.
  • Adrenal gland problems: symptoms include upset stomach, vomiting very bad dizziness or passing out, muscle weakness, feeling very tired, mood changes, not hungry, or weight loss.
  • Thinning of the skin.

  • Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking including prescription medicine, supplements, and herbal products.

How to use Mometasone Furoate

  • This medicine is intended for adults and children aged 2 years and older.
  • Use as indicated by your doctor.
  • This medicine is for external use only.
  • The lotion should only be used on the scalp.
  • You should not use a large amount on large areas of the body for a long time.
  • Rub a thin layer carefully into the affected area.

How to store Mometasone Furoate

  • Store at room temperature 68 to 77°F (20 to 25°C).
  • Discard the opened tube with any remaining ointment after 12 weeks.
  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the package. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
